His family moved to the Ellsworth area and he attended country school and Ellsworth High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force on July 11, 1951 and served until being honorably discharged in 1952. He married Virgil "Virgie" Beller on October 10, 1953 at the Clayfield Catholic Church in rural Ellsworth. They lived in Ellsworth until 1961, when they moved to Red Wing. He then worked part-time at Braschler's Bakery and then at Wal Mart. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, visiting different casinos and going to musical shows, but most of all, Dick will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor!
