Richard Sylvester Jostock, 74, of Lake City, died on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at The Green Prairie Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Campus in Plainview. He was born in Red Wing on March 27, 1947, to Gervas and Geneva (Tri) Jostock. As a child, Richard’s family farmed in the rural Mazeppa area before moving and farming in the Gillford and West Albany Township area in Wabasha County in 1956. He attended Jacksonville Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Wabasha High School in 1965. Richard was united in marriage to Jeanine Shea on September 6, 1969, at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview. They then lived on the family farm, where he farmed with his wife and children until retiring in 2003. Richard and Jeanine moved to Plainview in 2020. Richard loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and attending their events. He was very involved with his children in 4-H. He loved animals and watching wildlife. He frequently enjoyed fishing, watching birds, walking in the woods, and wildflowers. He liked to ride snowmobile, attend demolition derbies and tractor pulls, play volleyball, and travel around the countryside on his side by side.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanine of Plainview; children, James (Dodie) Jostock of Millville, Andrew (Tammy) Jostock or Millville, Ann Marie (Scott) Sprick of Lake City, and Nancy (Gary) Schmidt of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Daynalyn, Drew, Deonna, Dalton, Lyla, Irisa, and Lani; brother, Don (Mary Jo) Jostock; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Jostock and Marjorie Kingsley; and brother-in-law, Maurice Shea.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dr. Arnold Jostock.
Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at St. Joachim Catholic Church with Father William Becker presiding. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
