Richard Herman DeFrang, 85, of Lake City passed away on February 24, 2019 at the Lake City Care Center, Lake City Minn. He was born in Lake City on September 7, 1933 to John and Agatha (Koob) DeFrang.
Dick grew up in Lake City and graduated from McCahill School in Lake City. He then joined the Army and served until 1956 when he was discharged. Dick worked for Royal Milk in Lakeville, MN for 35 years. Richard married Connie (Eppen) January 4, 1980 at St. Mary's of The Lake Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Mary's of The Lake Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Lake City VFW Post 8729, American Legion Post 110, Lake City Lions Club and the Lake City Sportsman's Club. Dick enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends. He also coached baseball in Lake City for many years.
Dick is survived by his wife, Corrine "Connie" DeFrang, his 2 step-daughters Pamela Moyer of Lake City, Robyn (Jeff) Wettern of Lake City; one brother, Robert DeFrang of Rochester; one sister-in-law, Barbara DeFrang of Chetek, Wi.; 2 grandsons, Travis (Courtney Moyer) Wettern of Lake City; Dustin Moyer of Red Wing; a great granddaughter Hazel. He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters, 3 brothers and a son-in-law.
Memorial service will be Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11 AM at the St. Mary's of The Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father John Wilmot officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 at the church. Military Honors will be performed by Lake City American Legion Post 110 and VFW Post 8729. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
