Zumbrota

Richard C. Hart, age 90, of Zumbrota, MN. passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN after a lengthy illness.

Dick was born on May 6, 1931, in Colfax, WI where he also attended High School.  He married Barbara King on September 23, 1950.

He made his mark in the building trade by constructing many homes in Zumbrota and the surrounding area.  He finished his career as a project manger for a large construction firm in Mt. Airy, NC.  Upon his retirement, they returned to Zumbrota in 2002 where he built the home he lived in for the rest of his life.

For many years, Dick was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards, cheered for the Twins, and loved to feed the birds.  He found special joy throughout the years from the many dogs he owned with Hank holding a special place in his heart.  He could fix anything and took great pride in his work.  He was generous with his time and honest beyond measure.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara; daughter, Joanne Bartsh (Richard) of Bettendorf, IA; son, David Hart (Kathy) of Lake City MN; 5 grandchildren: Allison Walsh, Anthony Bartsh, Tyler Bartsh, Kimberley von Knobelsdorff, Jennifer Varner, and 12 great-grandchildren; Kate, Claire and Emma Walsh, Owen and Molly Bartsh, Anna and Graham Bartsh, Lilly, Lewis, Arlyn and Hermann von Knobelsdorff, and Maisy Varner.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Gilmore, and two brothers, Robert and Dennis Hart.

A private service will be held on April 30. Interment will be in the Land’s Lutheran Church cemetery.
