Richard John Clark

June 9, 1946 — April 28, 2019

Richard J. Clark age 72 of Lake City passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Mayo Health System Lake City Hospital.

Richard was born June 9, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Loren & Lorna (Willette) Clark. He graduated from George Washington High School, in St. Paul in 1964. Richard married Mary Eyrich on June 25, 1964. They later divorced. He joined the Navy in 1964 and served until 1970 when he was discharged. While he was on active duty he was an Aircraft Mechanic and served aboard 4 aircraft carriers, America, Essex, Wasp and the Roosevelt. After his discharge he served in the Navy Reserves for 6 years. Richard married Sundae Warner August 22, 1970 in St. Paul, MN. He worked as a Maintenance Mechanical Journeyman. Richard worked 14 years at American Hoist & Derrick in St. Paul, MN, 5 years at Derrick Atwood in Red Wing and the last 10 years until he retired at Federal Mogul in Lake City. He also farmed in Goodhue County for 9 years. They moved to Lake City in 1992. Richard received a Heart Transplant on June 18, 1992 at the University of Minnesota, Hospital and Clinics. He was a member of American Legion Post #110, Moose Lodge and 2nd Chance for Life. He lectured for many years about tissue and organ transplant through Life Source.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sundae; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher and Megan; five great grandchildren, two sisters Peggy Schwartz of St. Paul, Teresa Maruna of Coon Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard Clark Jr., three brothers, Laurence, James & William Clark, a sister Jeanette Schlosser.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 am at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the American heart Association. Online Condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
