Richard "Dick" Carley

A funeral mass for Richard ‘Dick' Carley will be held Wednesday July 8th at 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Paul in Zumbrota. The celebrant will be The Reverend Randal Kasel. Burial, with military honors provided by the VFW, will follow at the Zumbrota Cemetery. Mr. Carley, 84, of Goodhue, died Friday July 3, 2015 at his son's home, where he had been under hospice care.
Richard James Carley was born August 26, 1930 in Mazeppa. Following high school, he served his country during the Korean War in the US Army. He attended Dunwoody Institute's school of refrigeration and air conditioning in Minneapolis. In Zumbrota, he was the owner of Dick's Refrigeration Company. He married Suzanne (Luhman) Conat on November 8, 1974 in Brookings, South Dakota. He retired in 1985. He and his wife moved to North Port, Florida, where Mr. Carley remained until recently.
He was a member of St. Pedro's Catholic Church in North Port, and was a former member of the Zumbrota Golf Club, the Zumbrota Commercial Club, was a life member of the Zumbrota VFW Post 5727, the American Legion, and the Zumbrota Lions Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Wagner of Goodhue; a son, Larris Conat of Goodhue; and a brother, Harvey (Shirley) Hiebel of Rochester. Also surviving are his nephews, Mike Hiebel of Rochester, Pat (Amy) Hiebel of Edmonds, Washington, and Tim Hiebel of Nokomis, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Carley in 2007; and his parents, John and Mildred Hiebel.
The visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel, in Zumbrota. A prayer service will be said at 3:45 PM.
