Richard C Burgess

Richard C. Burgess, age 90, of Pine Island, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Pine Haven Care Center. A memorial service will be held at Second Street Church of Christ in Rochester - 632 2nd St SW, Rochester, MN 55902 on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Minister Steve Sikes officiating. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Arrangements were made with Mahn Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel, Pine Island.
Richard Carol Burgess was born on September 5, 1925 in Mantorville Township to Robert and Kathryn (Streiff) Burgess. He grew up in Mantorville and started farming on the family farm while in high school. Richard graduated from Mantorville High School in 1943. He married Margaret Kunz on June 1, 1944. Together they bought a farm southwest of Pine Island in 1951. They had six children and farmed together for 62 years. Richard was a handy man, he build his own out buildings and could fix just about anything. Richard was an active member of the Church of Christ. Richard enjoyed traveling with Margaret, fishing, and spending time with family.
Richard is survived by his children, Lynda (Bill) Barnacle of Brainerd, MN., Donna (Victor) Montez of Simi Valley, CA., Ken (Susan) Burgess of Becker, MN., Bonita (Mark) Nolden of Andover, MN.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret; two sons, Kieth and Tom Burgess; three sisters, Mildred, Eva and Eloise; brother, Wilford; and his parents.
