Richard Leonard Brown, 66, of Red Wing, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at his home. He was on April 15, 1949 in Huron, South Dakota to Leonard and Evelyn (Eschenbacher) Brown. He attended schools in West Fargo, North Dakota and graduated from high school in Sioux City, Iowa where he was a state swimmer. He attended Oregon State where he played football and the University of Minnesota. On January 26, 1969, he married Christina Fogde in Sioux City. They moved to Red Wing where they owned and operated Red Wing Music Store for 19 years. He then worked various sales jobs and more recently for Life Touch Portraits. He was member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed photography, music, was a fantastic drummer and was an avid Vikings fan.
Survivors include his wife, Christina; two children, Dr. Shannon Menard of Maplewood and Joshua ( Fiancé, Tram Pham) of Lake City; two grandchildren, Spenser and Charlotte Menard; one sister, Katherine (Gary) Moore of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; and special family friends, Sue and Ben Domagala, and the late Duane Domagala, to whom Richard was a former Big Brother. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Y Pals, Red Wing Public Library or the church.
