Reynold Kohrs was born on November 8, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant Township of Wabasha County, to Albert and Martha (Wiebusch) Kohrs. He was ushered into the waiting arms of his Savior on November 7, 2010, after a lengthy time of failing health.
He farmed on the farm he was born on until he retired and moved to Lake City in 1991. He was married to Caroline Hellwinckel in Pipestone, MN on Sept. 6, 1947. He loved the land and especially planting, harvesting and watching God's marvelous provisions from the fruits of his labor. When he wasn't in the fields or tending his livestock, he enjoyed the company of many good friends and loving family-always ready to visit and have a game of cards. He enjoyed music, sang in many choirs and soloed for many weddings and funerals. He served on the board for the Farmers' Elevator and was an active Lions member and delivered Meals on Wheels. In spite of all the activities, he always made time for his family a priority.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Caroline (Hellwinckel) and three sons, Dale (Shari) of Elmore, MN, Duane (Nancy) of Lake City on the family farm, and Paul (Linda) of Lynden, Washington; 8 grandsons, Timothy, Stephen, John, Michael, Craig, Ross, Brent, and Brian and two granddaughters, Amy Alkire and Shelly Bargen. He also was blessed to see his great-grandchildren, now at eleven, and set to increase next year. Also surviving are two brothers, Wendell (Cleona) of Ocala, Florida and Merlyn (Bev) of Lake City as well as one sister, Darlene (Fred) Schmidt of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, an older sister, Dorothy Deden and his younger brother, Virgil.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Belvidere where he was baptized, confirmed and served in many capacities. Memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity in lieu of flowers. There will be visitation on Wednesday November 10, 2010, from 4-8 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
