Renota Lydia Marie Schulenberg, 98, of Red Wing, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born on July 5, 1911, in Red Wing to John and Mary (Hinirichs) Bohmbach. She attended schools in Red Wing and on June 29, 1940 she was married to Chester Schulenberg. She worked for the City Hospital and then St. John's Hospital, retiring in 1975 after 50 years. Chester died November 4, 1990. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies guild and had coordinated funeral lunches for many years; she was also a member of the St. John's Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, bowling, crocheting and watching sports and was a fan of the Red Wing and Minnesota teams, especially the MN Timberwolves. She also enjoyed going to Balsam Lake and fishing.
Survivors include three children; Dr. Robert (Nancy) Schulenberg, Richard Schulenberg and Delma (Roger) Deden all of Red Wing; eight grandchildren; Jennifer (Michael) Hosfeld of Mantorville, Erich of Washington DC, Sara (Jeremy) Swart of Denver, CO, Lisa (Chad) Walker of Welch, Dustin (Angie) of Red Wing, Shawn of Riverside, CA, and Jason and Angela Deden both of Red Wing; nine great-grandchildren; special caregiver from Seminary Home, Marissa Penny; one brother, Clifford "Tish" (Winnie) Bohmbach of Hopkins and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; siblings: Norman, Nilan, and Hilbert Bohmbach and Manilla Nelson and Verneil Olson.
