Regis Manuel Lopez

Regis Manuel Lopez, age 83, of Rochester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. The memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island with Pastor Paul Hauschild officiating. Inturnment will be in Pine Island Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #92 of Rochester. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
Regis Manuel Lopez was born on August 25, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Trinidad and Felicitas (nee Lopez) Herrera. He grew up in St. Paul. On November 16, 1945 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Manuel served during WW II as a Firefighter Crash Rescueman. He was honorably discharged on November 7, 1948 and he returned to St. Paul. Manuel worked at Swift & Co. for a short time, before enrolling in the Riter School of Cosmetology in St. Paul. After cosmetology school he worked for several salons before establishing Manuel's Salon of Beauty in Rochester. On February 13, 1962 he married Josephine Struckmann. They fostered a loving marriage for over fifty years as they made their home in Rochester. Manuel owned and operated Manuel's Salon of Beauty for fifty years before retiring Manuel's greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to entertain them and also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and cooking. He was a member of American Legion Post #92 in Rochester.
Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Josephine; son, Emanuel Lopez of Rochester; daughter, Margo (Curtis) Young of Stewartville; grandchildren, Alex and Jackson Lopez, Crystal (Christopher) Ebling, Patrick (Jessica) Young and Christopher Young; great-grandchildren, Thea, Miya, Damarcus, Hayden, Tatum, Tanner and Tayler. From a previous marriage Manuel is also survived by sons, Rick (Cathy) Lopez, Michael Lopez and Stephen (Lori) Lopez all of San Diego, CA and David (Linda) Lopez of Phoenix, AZ.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lecinda and son, John.
Manuel emphasized the value and importance of family. He truly appreciated his relationship with his brothers and sister in laws and close nieces and nephews.
