Raymond Wilfred Westerberg

Raymond Wilfred Westerberg, 94, of Red Wing, died Sunday, March 20, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. He was born on April 30, 1916, in Stockholm, Wis. to Elmer and Alice Westerberg. He attended schools in Red Wing. He then served in the US Army during World War II with the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. On December 21, 1945 he was united in marriage to Ruth Oelkers in Seattle, Wash. He worked for A. Swanson's and Sons and Tesdall Implement where he was a mechanic and sold tractors until 1965 then for Tesdall Motors where he sold Ford vehicles until January 1997. Ruth died on April 23, 1979. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54, Red Wing Elks BPOE #845, Redman Club and a longtime member of the Red Wing Yacht Club. He enjoyed fishing, mowing lawn and gardening. He loved to "putz' and was very handy and mechanically minded. His family recalls how meticulous and well mannered he was and his passion was his boat house.

Survivors include one son, Terry (Joni) Westerberg of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Andrea (Ross) Gnotke of Goodhue, Lindsay Lyons of New Prague and Jon (Missi Blue) Westerberg of Hager City; three great grandchildren, Blake and Hunter Westerberg and Ava Lyons and significant other, Shirley Torkelson of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and his beloved dog, Gucci.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service
