A lifelong area resident, Ray hauled milk for about 40 years to Minnesota Milk Producers, which later became known as Land O’ Lakes. In earlier years he worked briefly for REA as a linesman. He retired in 1982.
Following retirement, he and his wife Bev became caretakers of the building and grounds at the Oronoco Community Center. They also mowed the grounds at the Oronoco Cemetery.
Ray was married in 1944 to Nora Berg. She passed away in 1973. He married Beverly Holmes on March 24, 1976, and she survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Susan Baker of Oronoco; two grandchildren, Bradley (Heather) Baker of Rochester, and Barbara Baker of Wilsonville, Oregon; and a great-granddaughter, Nora Grace Baker of Wilsonville, Oregon.
In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Donald, who passed away earlier this year.
