Obituary written by Ralph Edward McGuire:
I was born January 1st, 1939 in Elba MN to Elmer and Irene (Loppnow) McGuire. I grew up in Elba and graduated from St Charles High School in 1956. During and after High School, I worked for the state of Minnesota DNR planting trees and stream improvement in the Whitewater Valley until joining IBM in 1957. I went to Endicott NY for training as a machinist, returning to Rochester MN after one year. In 1959, I married Carmen Odegarden from Chatfield MN. We married in a small church in Pilot Mound MN. We made our home in Rochester MN. After 34 years, I retired from IBM, Carmen retiring from Mayo Clinic and moved to Byron MN. I enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, wallpapering and maintaining our home. Later we enjoyed winters in Florida and taking trips to Deadwood SD and with the family to northern MN. In my younger years, being from the Whitewater Valley, enjoyed hunting, trapping and trout fishing.
I am survived by my wife of 65 years Carmen.
