Ralph "Steve" Bailey

Ralph Stephen Bailey, 64, of Little Canada, formerly of Red Wing, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home. He was born July 9, 1945 in Johnson City, TN, the son of Ralph D. and Virginia (Ledford) Bailey. He grew up and attended school in St. Paul. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1963, served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967. He moved to Tennessee where he worked as a lineman for a cable television company. He moved to Rice Lake in 1970. He married Joyce Jurgensen and they later divorced. He moved to Red Wing in 1971 where he worked at the Prairie Island Power Plant for several years. He married Mitzie Rietmann and she passed away in 1993. He moved to the Twin Cities area in 1995 and worked as a U. S. Deputy Marshall at the St. Paul Courthouse. He married Kay Bailey and they later divorced. He retired in 2008. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post 54 in Red Wing and he took great pride in being Patriotic and a former member of the U. S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed Elvis, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son: Steve Bailey of St. Louis Park, MN; one step-son, Billy Joe (Melody) Lampman of Red Wing; one step-daughter, Mitzie Knapp of Ellsworth; five grandchildren: Heather Bailey, Chad, Shane & McKenzie Lampman, and Kristie Miller; one great-grandchild, Kailyn Lampman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mitzie and two children, Danette Marie and Jessica Lee Bailey.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
