OBITUARY: Rachael Flormoe
Funeral services for Rachael Flormoe will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Berne. Reverend Victor Jortack will officiate with music provided by Sam Ellson, organist; Pat Coy, pianist; Bob Johnson, soloist and special pianists: Rachael Coan and Cori Kennedy. Active casketbearers will be some of her grandchildren: Matthew Kennedy, David Maxson, Shalon Maxson, Aaron Maxson, Tabitha Maxson and Rachael Coan. Honorary casketbearers will be Lorna Cowles, Natalie Rhodes, Quinlan Harris, Debbie Lee, Barbara Lee and Diane Ford. Burial will follow in the Berne Cemetery.
Rachael Oranna Flormoe, age 93, of Pine Island died on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the Pine Haven Care Center. She was born on January 20, 1914 in Milton Township, Dodge County, MN to Albert and Anna (Odeen) Borgstrom. She attended rural schools and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1933. Rachael attended Kasson Normal School and taught in various country schools before marrying Raymond Kennedy in 1945. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Pine Island. Raymond died on December 23, 1947. She married Oscar Flormoe on June 27, 1949 in Pine Island. She worked as a beautician, a homemaker and worked as a clerk for Frederick's Super Value in West Concord. Oscar died on January 30, 1987. Rachael was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ and served on various church boards. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano.
Rachael is survived by three sons: David, and daughter-in-law, Linda Kennedy, of West Concord, MN, Maynard, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Flormoe, of Eugene, OR and Karl, and daughter-in-law, Carol Flormoe, of Fountain Hills, AZ; two daughters: Martha Anne Flormoe, of Pine Island, MN and Doris, and son-in-law, Allen Coan, of Wadena, IA; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Kennedy, of Pine Island, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands: Thomas Raymond Kennedy and Oscar Flormoe; one brother, Loren Borgstrom; one step-daughter; two grandsons and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
