OBITUARY: R'Lee M. Flaaen
Funeral services for R'Lee Flaaen will be on Monday, June 18, 2007, at 11AM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Luther Peterson officiating. Karen Heimer and Connie Rude will provide the music. Honorary casketbearers will be R'Lee's grandchildren: Ryan Charette, Lindsay Collins, Eric Dublin, Kimberly Dublin, Luke Floan, Elias Floan, Jennifer Ka, Anthony Scheffler, Dustin Scheffler, Jason Scheffler and Chistine Veres. Burial will be in Lands Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
R'Lee Madeline Flaaen, age 90, of Zumbrota died on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. She was born on October 19, 1916 at Wheat Basin, Montana to Aimer and Amanda (Stageberg) Biorn. She attended school and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1935. R'Lee attended beauty school in Minneapolis and later operated beauty shops in Zumbrota and Wanamingo. She married Larry Dublin and later divorced. On April 6, 1953 she married Palmer M. Flaaen at Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple farmed until retiring in 1979. Palmer died on February 4, 1994. R'Lee's loves in life were her children, traveling, fishing, golf and playing cards.
R'Lee is survived by her children: Garry (Renee) Dublin of Maple Grove, MN, Carol (Ron) Charette of New Berry, NC, Wayne (Tina) Dublin of Wappingers Falls, NY, Susan (Daniel) Scheffler, and Debbie (Gary) Floan all of Zumbrota, MN; her grandchildren: Ryan (Emily) Charette, Lindsay (Nathanael) Collins, Eric (Tammy) Dublin, Kimberly Dublin, Luke Floan, Elias Floan, Jennifer (Sohka) Ka, Anthony (Margaret) Scheffler, Dustin Scheffler, Jason (Tracy) Scheffler, and Christine (Greg) Veres; one sister, Audrey (Biorn) Anderson of White Bear Lake, MN; sisters-in-law: Jean Biorn of Moline, IL, Margaret Flaaen of Pine Island, MN, Rose Floen of Rochester, MN and Valberg Floen of Faribault, MN; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer; her parents, Aimer and Amanda Biorn; and her brother, Luverne Biorn.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 17, 2007, from 5-8PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
