A private burial for Mrs. Poa Pay will occur at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Mrs. Pay, 71, of Rochester, died Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Mrs. Pay was born January 1, 1942 in Battambang, Cambodia, the daughter of Pay and Touch Sin. Raised in Cambodia, she married Piseth Un. He precedes her in death. She was a good lady, wife, mother, and Christian. In Cambodia, she owned and operated a small grocery business. With a petition from her son, Vutha Un, she emigrated to the United States in 1996 and has lived in Rochester since that time. She married Mengkhun Sum in Rochester on October 19, 2002. Mrs. Pay worked at IBM as a custodian from 1996 to 2008. She was a member of the Cambodian Church of the Nazarene.
Poa Pay is survived by her husband, Mengkhun Sum of Rochester; four sons, Vuthy Un in Cambodia, Vutha (Soeuy) Un of Rochester, Pisoth (Phalla) Un in Cambodia, and Pisey (Sopheak) Un of Richmond, Virginia; a daughter, Dary (Saul) Ellis of Richmond, Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kimkou Sin in Cambodia.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Phoeun Sin, and recently Hok Sin.
