Phyllis Tomhave

Phyllis Tomhave, age 82, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Red Wing Health Center. She was born on October 22, 1925, in Valley City, North Dakota, to Rudolph and Cora (Kummer) Pfeifer. The family moved to Minnesota where she attended schools in Faribault and Rochester. She was a 1943 graduate of Kasson High School and attended the Minnesota School of Business. In 1945, she married Glenn Haglund in St Paul. They later divorced. She married Harry Tomhave in 1967 and he died in 1995. She worked as a secretary/ receptionist for many years, most recently for Jostens in Red Wing where she worked for twenty- seven years prior to retiring in 1994. She was a Past Matron of Eastern Star in Red Wing and a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed swimming, traveling and gardening.

Survivors include one daughter Martha Johanson of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, one son Terence (Diane) Haglund of Virginia, one step-daughter Jeanne (Chuck) Bergner of Red Wing, one step daughter-in-law Suzanne Tomhave of Red Wing; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her two husbands and one stepson Cletus Tomhave.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Tony Zemke and Staci Selset, Todd and Kim Zemke, Scott and Ayme Zemke, Christine and Jeff Johnson, Terri and Steve Woodland, Wade and Kelly Bergner, Krista and Aaron Sale. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Monday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
