Phyllis A. Thomforde

Phyllis A. Thomforde age 78 of Lake City passed away July 16, 2010 at the Lake City Nursing Home after a short illness.
Phyllis was born September 14, 1931 in Goodhue County to Lawrence & Frieda (Hoeft) Brinkman. She attended St. Peters Lutheran Parocial School until 8th grade. She attended Goodhue High School and graguated in 1949. Phyllis worked at the City Hospital and St. John's Hospital as a nursing assistant.
On October 15th, 1955 she was united in marriage to Harvey C. Thomforde at St. Peters Belvidere Lutheran Church. They farmed in rural Lake City from 1955 to 1977, when they retired and moved to Lake City. Harvey passed away in December of 1993. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, church activities, and volunteering at the nursing home.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Tony) Berktold of Lake City; three grandchildren, Heather (Rodney) Banks, Matthew (Jolie) Berktold, Sara (Jason) Bonde all of Lake City; five great grandchildren, Riley, Jack, and Ellis Banks, Faith Bonde and Shelby Berktold; a sister, Verdell Yotter of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers Vernon Gerken, Lester Gerken, Delmar Brinkman; two sisters Ethel Bollum, Eva Yotter.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Peters Belvidere Lutheran Church with Rev. Merle Lebahn officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peters Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church.
