Phyllis Alice Saupe, 81, of Red Wing, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at her home at Hi-Park Villa. She was born June 23, 1932 in Lake City to Charles and Ethel (Berg) Reinhard. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City and from Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She worked as a secretary at Honeywell and for Wabasha County. She met her husband Robert on a blind date and the two were married June 19, 1954 in Red Wing. The couple lived in Wacouta and later moved to Red Wing where Robert owned and operated the Driftwood Lounge. After their retirement they moved to Hager City where they resided for 25 wonderful years by the back channel of the Mississippi. Robert passed away on January 2, 2013. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved crocheting and was a Scrabble wiz. She also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Phyllis had an indomitable spirit of optimism and will be remembered for her vivacious laugh.
She is survived by three adoring children, Denise Saupe of Minneapolis, Wendy Danzeisen of White Bear Lake and Craig Saupe of Kauai, Hawaii; one brother, Richard (Jean) Reinhard of Lake City; one sister, Marjorie Stroot of New Richmond, Wis. and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert and two sisters, Delores Schafer and Mary Nibbe.
Graveside service will be at 12 noon Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Wacouta Cemetery with Pastor Todd Engel officiating. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church.
