Phyllis Marie Pomerleau

Phyllis Marie Pomerleau, 97, Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born January 27, 1915 in Elmwood, WI, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Plifka) Roatch. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1933. She worked in housekeeping at the St James Hotel for 3-4 years after graduation, and then attended beauty school in the Twin Cities. She married Hugh DeWayne "Frog" Pomerleau in 1941.and she raised two sons, Chuck and Bob. She worked at Pomerleau Electric, Ben Franklin, and retired in the 1970's from Red Wing Shoe Company where she worked in the office. She lived in Hastings for approximately 20 years until moving to Hi-Park Assisted Living in April, 1996. In August, 1999, Phyllis moved to St. Brigid's at Hi-Park where she lived until the time of her death. She was the senior resident in length of residency at the care center. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and gardening. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing. She was an excellent cook and was very generous to those around her.

Survivors include her son, Chuck; her sister-in-law, Doris Roatch; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bob; her former husband, "Frog" Pomerleau; her siblings: Arthur, Alfred and Bill Roatch, Jean Wintervold, Ann Lansing and Florence Campbell.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Goodhue County Humane Society. Condolences may be left at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
