Private graveside services at Grandview Memorial Gardens will be held for Phyllis Mather at a later date. Mrs. Mather, 94, died Sunday April 28, 2013 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Phyllis Maxine Nobs was born to John and Edna Nobs on September 3, 1918 in Pine Island. She lived most of her life in Rochester. However, during World War II she lived in San Diego, California, working as a riveter for the war effort. She married John H. Mather on September 2, 1940. Back in Rochester, she worked briefly as a beautician. She enjoyed bowling, camping, and traveling.
Mrs. Mather is survived by a son, Michael John Mather of Hot Springs, South Dakota and his former wife, Nancy, residing in Colorado; a daughter, Julie Eidem (Donald) Diercks of Byron; grandsons, Christopher (Kimberly) Eidem in Colorado, Ryan (Anna) Eidem in South Dakota, Michael P. (Melanie) Mather in Colorado, and Shawn (Nehra) Mather, also in Colorado; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Braden Eidem, Asher, Zander, and Micah Eidem, and Morgan Mather.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mather, in 2006; a sister, Dorothy Wright; and two brothers, Don and Dick Nobs.
