Phyllis M. Elias age 87, of Zumbrota, MN died on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Zumbrota Health Services. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Mahn Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Burial will be at a later date. The family will greet friends on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Phyllis Marie Gullickson was born on November 20, 1928 in Mantorville, MN. She attended county school in the Mantorville area, after school she started working in box factory until she met and married James Elias on December 4, 1948 in Pine Island, where they raised their family and Phyllis babysat for families in the community. They lived in Pine Island for many years until Jim passed away in 1990. Phyllis then moved to Rochester and worked at Econo Lodge and Decora Cabinets. Phyllis eventually moved back to Pine Island and worked at Pine Haven Care Center. Phyllis moved to the Zumbrota Bridges in 2004. Phyllis was an active member of the Pine Island Ladies Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, knitting, crossword puzzles, watching birds and spending time with family.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Terry (Mary) Elias of Arkansas, Ruth Nelson-Quade of Red Wing, Dave Elias (Sandy Maasch) of Zumbrota, Donnie (Sue) Elias of Rochester, Janet (Bob) Booth of Oregon, and Linda (Bernie) Klemek of Zumbrota; nine grandchildren, Tim, Jason, Chris, Jeremy, Matt, John, Damian, Jason, Tammy, Tanya, and Amy; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Avis; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; and three brothers, Richard, Russ, and Lester.
Memorials are preferred to the Zumbrota Health Care Center.
