Phyllis Marie Carlson

Phyllis Marie Boraas was born on September 18, 1932 to Herman and Alma (nee Haugen) at home in Wanamingo, MN. Phyllis graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1950. She married James Carlson in 1953 at Minneola Lutheran Church. They moved to Owatonna, MN shortly after they wed. James was a computer operator for Federated Insurance, and Phyllis took care of their home. James and Phyllis started their family in Owatonna. James passed away in 1970 and Phyllis moved back to Wanamingo in 1972 to be close to family. She worked for Security State Bank in Wanamingo for 39 years. After retiring in 2011, Phyllis was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she was also a member of the Wanamingo Historical Society. Phyllis enjoyed watching birds, quilting with her church group, having coffee with her friends, listening to music and spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by her loving family, daughters, Cathy (Dean) Cocker of Pine Island, Julie (Tim Sorensen) Steberg of Wanamingo; son, David (Sara) Carlson of Wanamingo; grandchildren Allison (Alex) Blackwell, Nick Steberg, Joe (Libby) Carlson, Andrew (Racheal) Carlson, Phillip (Lindsey) Carlson; great-grandchildren, Bear, Irie, Grimm, and Finnley; step-grandchildren, Lee (Renee) Cocker, Chad (Katy) Cocker; step-great-granddaughter, Madison Cocker; sister, Connie (Wally) Voxland; sisters-in-law, Carol Johanson, Diane (Bob) Lexvold, Jackie Schacht; brothers-in-law, Robert Carlson, Dale (Carrie) Carlson and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James Carlson; and brother-in-law, Wayne Carlson.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Wanamingo Historical Society.
