Funeral services for Phyllis Becker will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester. The Reverend Jeffrey Utecht and the Reverend Gwen Bohlke will co-officiate. Interment, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, will be at the Chatfield Cemetery. Mrs. Becker, 82, of Rochester, died Wednesday June 8, 2011 at her home in Rochester.
Phyllis Jean Carlson was born March 13, 1929 in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer and Ethel Carlson. She was a graduate of Elbow Lake High School in 1947. She then attended Saint Cloud State, and then North Central in Naperville, Illinois where she met her husband, Clinton Becker. They were married on June 8, 1949 in Norcross, Minnesota. She and her husband served United Methodist Churches in Odessa, Fergus Falls, Chatfield - Fountain, and Waseca. Upon retirement, they made their home in Rochester.
Phyllis was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church and its Lydia Circle.
Survivors include four children, Kay (Herb) Hess of Rochester, Joy of Rochester, Lee (Karla) Becker of rural Chatfield, and Tim (Peggy) Becker of Rochester; ten grandchildren, Christina (Tom) Miles, Jeffrey Hess, Ann (Mike) Kahn, Toni Becker, Ellen Becker, Jesse Becker, Josh Plut, and Lydia Becker; four great-grandchildren, Abigail Miles, Emily Miles, Landon Becker-Carlson, and Owen Kahn. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Clinton Becker, in 1999; and by her parents.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM today (Friday June 10th) at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, and the visitation will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday.
