Phillip Alton Flaaen, 94, of Wanamingo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 3, 2020.
He was born on September 25, 1926 in Pine Island, Minnesota to Elmer Flaaen and Clara (Dahl) Flaaen. Phil was an electrician and worked in Rochester and southeast Minnesota for many years. He served in the Navy from 12/14/1945 - 10/10/1947. Phil farmed his own land and enjoyed working with other farmers.
His first marriage was to Virginia Berg on May 2, 1949 and raised their three boys, Mychal, Leslie, and James on a farm outside of Zumbrota, Minnesota and later they divorced. He met Marleen Friedrich and they were married on December 30, 1994 and enjoyed 25 years of marriage on their farm outside of Wanamingo, Minnesota.
Phil loved time with the Steberg boys on the tractor and around the farm. He enjoyed watching football, “The Price is Right,” “Let’s Make a Deal,” and daily coffee at the Cenex with the “Coffee Guys.”
He also loved spending time with his family and friends and was one of the hardest workers you would ever meet.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Marleen; daughter, Beth; and son, Kevin; and many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his three sons, James, Mychal, and Leslie Flaaen; and his first wife, Virginia.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Mahn Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota Minnesota.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zumbrota, Minnesota.
