Philip A. Revoir

February 16, 1932 — July 7, 2016

Philip A. Revoir, 84, of Red Wing, passed away July 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by family and is now in his heavenly home. Phil died from complications of Alzheimer's and several strokes. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1949 and was called to active duty with Company B serving during the Korean War in the Army National Guard. He married Joan Nelson in 1954 and they recently celebrated their 62nd Anniversary.

Phil was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing, serving on the school board, council and as the church historian. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved playing his accordion, going to card parties and dances and early morning racquetball games at the YMCA. He had a love of the outdoors - looking for agates, going camping, hunting in northern Minnesota and especially loved fishing - from local lakes and streams to the NW Territories and Salmon fishing in WA and MI. He always looked forward to Thursday morning coffee with friends at Perkins and their friendly waitress. Phil was a lifetime member of the RW Rifle Club/Sportsman's Club, winning many trophies for his marksmanship. He was a 50 year member of the RW Noontime Kiwanis and was instrumental with starting the RW Flower Basket program. Phil, along with his wife, Joan owned and operated Revoir Photography for 52 years doing portraits, weddings, commercial work and later specializing in restoration of early historical photographs.

Phil is survived by his wife Joan; daughters: Kay (Dave) Miller of Hastings; Lori (Steve) Thoms of Hager City, Wisc.; Amy (Jay) Van Loon of Red Wing; 8 grandchildren: Tony (Cali) Miller; Brian (Michelle) Miller; Andy (Amy) Thoms; Aaron Thoms; Matt (Emily) Thoms; Brette (Mark) Stockhowe; Calla Van Loon; Trent Van Loon; 7 great-grandchildren: Eli, Otto and Oak Miller; Patrick, Charlie and Etta Thoms and baby girl Thoms (Andy & Amy) due in August; brother, Ken (Donna) Revoir; Brothers-in-Law: Don (Marian) Nelson; Ken (Dorothy) Nelson and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Kristin Kajewski, RW Mayo Hospice, Pastor Peter Sternberg and all of the many family and friends for their prayers and support. He didn't remember your name, but he knew he loved you!

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Wing with Reverend Sternberg officiating. Burial with military honors by American Legion Leo C. Peterson #54 will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at church.
