Philip Lee Johnson, 66, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Rochester, to Chris and Mary (VanGemert) Johnson. His family moved to California and he attended schools in the Riverside area. As an adult, he returned to Minnesota, living in Lake City. He worked at Durkee Atwood for many years until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Judi Strickland on July 18, 1977, and they lived in Red Wing. She died in 2002. Philip loved to go fishing, socializing and being with friends, watching Westerns, muscle cars and music.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Lynn (Scott) Storing of Red Wing and Dawn (Eric) Knutson of Baldwin, Wisc.; 5 grandchildren, Scott, Tony and Jacob Storing and Angela and Ashley Langer and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and an aunt, Marie.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Lynne Rigg officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
