Peter Daniel Sand

Peter D. Sand age 21 of Zumbrota died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in St. Paul. Memorial service will be on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Tom Isaacson officiating. Due to remodeling at United Redeemer Lutheran Church, the service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Inurnment will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2008 from 3:00 � 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Peter Daniel Sand was born on January 23, 1987 in Rochester, MN to Richard and Cindy (nee Matthees) Sand. He grew up in Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School in 2005. While in high school, Peter participated in wrestling, football, baseball and golf. He was currently attending MN State University in Mankato and working at Treasure Island Resort and Casino as a valet parking attendant. Peter enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards, cooking, watching Twins games, bonding with family and friends and playing with his dog Dil. Peter is survived by his parents, Dick and Cindy, brothers, Ryan Gunhus of Rochester and Patrick Sand of Zumbrota, maternal grandparents, Roy and Alyce Matthees of Zumbrota, nine uncles, Tom (Sharon) Sand, Jon (Anne) Sand, Joe (Rhonda) Sand, Chuck (Sally) Sand, George (Julie) Sand, Steve (Marcia) Matthees, Bruce (Rita) Matthees, Mark (Tricia) Matthees and Doug (Cindy) Matthees, two aunts, Anne (Steve) Brunnelle and Joan Sand and many loving cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norbert and Lorraine Sand and his uncle Peter Sand. The family suggests memorials.
