Peter John Quast

Peter John Quast, age 46 of Zumbrota died on February 29, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Rochester, St. Marys Campus, surrounded by his family, due to injuries sustained from an accidental fall in Zumbrota. The memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pete was born on July 13, 1969 in Zumbrota to Julie Ann (Hoseth) Quast and Carl John Quast. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Goodhue, MN. He graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1987 where he participated in band, jazz band, football and wrestling.
Pete was an avid sports fan taking interest in all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings teams.
Pete worked at several jobs, as a cook, machinist, but mostly in the service sector. For the last thirteen years, he was employed at America's Best Value Inn in Zumbrota.
Pete was a caring young man who genuinely loved his family. He'd always ask or make phone calls about individual members NOT present at family gatherings. His gentle soul touched the lives of children and animals. He especially enjoyed dog Rudy and Blackie the cat.
He loved nature. Being outdoors gave him great pleasure, whether fishing, bike riding with the feeling of wind caressing his face, or walking around Zumbrota, taking in everything with his finely tuned senses. He was sensitive to others' thoughts, secretly worried about what others thought about him, but to those he loved and trusted, he would stop and visit for a short chat.
Pete loved his Savior and read the Bible. Passages he comprehended literally caused great angst, but his family gently supported "Pete's version."
He loved rock-n-roll music. He knew every title, artist and the year released, his favorite band being AC/DC.
Pete was a kind, thoughtful individual, who always wanted to help others. To continue his legacy in that fashion, his body was gifted to Life Source for organ and tissue donation.
Pete is survived by his mother, Julie Ann Quast, father, Carl John (Elizabeth) Quast all of Zumbrota; siblings, Sara (Tom) Nielsen of Northfield, Jessie Quast and Rachel (Cody Bell) Quast both of Minneapolis, Kelsey Benson of San Diego and Erik (Beth Johnson) Benson of Rochester; niece, Claire Nielsen; nephews, Andrew and Marshall Nielsen, all of Northfield and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Myrtel Hoseth and Carl and Marie Quast and sister, Arielle Kristine Quast.
As we say our final goodbyes, stories, memories and recollections of Pete will sustain us until we meet with him, along with God our heavenly Father in the next life. God bless his soul.
