Peter Phillip Moser, 48, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Methodist Campus after more than 10 months of valiantly fighting pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, resilience, and a profound dedication to his family.
He was born December 11, 1975 in Edina, Minn. to Phillip and Sandra (Leuthardt) Moser. The family later moved to Rochester where Pete grew up. Even as a child and a teen, Pete found solace and joy in being outdoors. Hunting and fishing were not merely hobbies to Pete, but passions that brought him closer to nature and formed fond memories of time spent with friends.
Pete graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester in June of 1994 and then went on to Rochester Community and Technical College where he earned an Associates of Science Degree in Law Enforcement and completed his POST Skills Training.
In 1997 he started working at the Rice County Jail and then went on to serve as a police officer in Waterville, Minn. and as a sheriff’s deputy in Wabasha County. He started his career with the State of Minnesota Department of Corrections -MCF-Red Wing in October of 1999, where he worked until the time of his passing. Pete, also known as “Mo” by friends and co-workers, was known for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to uplift those around him, even when while facing his own recent adversities.
He met his wife of almost 20 years, Michelle (Gallo) Moser at work. They were married on September 18, 2004 at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing. Together they raised his stepson, Anthony Gallo. Pete and Michelle enjoyed travelling, gardening, going on walks, and watching movies together.
He was a member of the Red Wing Sportsmen’s Club and the Church of St. Joseph.
Peter is survived by his wife, Michelle; stepson, Anthony Gallo of Eagan; mother, Sandra Moser of Rochester; sister, Tiffany Bowers of Rochester; nieces and nephew, Kaitlyn Patrick, Carter Bowers and Charleigh Bowers, all of Rochester; father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Gallo of Red Wing; and pets, Chico and Mia
His is preceded in death by his father, Phillip Moser; and his two beloved cats, Ramona and Bella.
Though he may no longer cast his line into the waters of the Mississippi or trek the woods on a hunting trip, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
