Peggy Pearl Swanson, 94, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Dec. 12, at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing where she has resided since 1999. She was born on February 25, 1915 to John and Lucy (Betterly) Longsdorf. She graduated from Durand High School in 1933. After graduating she moved to Red Wing and on October 12, 1935 she was married to Frank Swanson. They lived in Red Wing and she worked at Daley Guest House and Haven Homes as a kitchen person. Frank died in 1981. She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Red Wing and enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading the Bible. She was a devoted Christian.
Survivors include one son, Duane (Beverly) Swanson of Berea, Ohio; one daughter, Wendy Stumpf of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Troy Stumpf and Sara and Ben Swanson; two great grandchildren, Jaydea and Jackson Poole and one great great grandson, Damien Miller; one sister, Lela Eggenberger of Maiden Rock, Wis. and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; three brothers, Floren, Johnny and Lester Longsdorf and one sister, Flossy Caturia; grandson, Andy Swanson and son-in-law, Gerald Stumpf.
Funeral will 11 a.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Community of Christ Church.
