Pearl Emily Heymann

April 3, 1921 — October 9, 2013

A memorial service for Pearl Heymann will be held Saturday October 12th at 11:00 AM at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. The Reverend Paul Bauch will officiate. Burial, at a later date, will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Mrs. Heymann, 92, of Rochester, died Wednesday October 9, 2013 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester.
Pearl Emily Penkert was born April 3, 1921 in New Ulm, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Mamie (Klossner) Penkert. Raised in New Ulm, she was graduated from New Ulm High School in 1939. She attended college for a couple of years, and then on December 23, 1942 she married Carl Heymann in New Ulm. The couple lived in several Minnesota communities, and then settled in Rochester in 1958. Pearl worked at JC Penney's for several years and then the Rochester Public Schools system. She retired in 1987.
She was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ, and a volunteer with the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, and playing bridge and dominoes.
She is survived by a daughter, Carla (Ray) Thompson of Stewartville; a son, Thomas (Gwen) Heymann of Kasson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Andrea) Light of Rochester, Joshua (Kathy Nicklay) Light of Stewartville, Melissa Holmberg of Duluth, Emily (Nick Rietheimer) Heymann of Riceville, Iowa, and Adam Heymann of Rochester; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Penkert of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Heymann; 3 sisters, Helen Liebl, Hertha Moe, and Mildred Gieseke; a brother, Wilbert Penkert; and a grandchild.
If so desired, memorials may be directed to Peace United Church of Christ of Rochester or to the Salvation Army.
