Pauline M. Hammes

Pauline M. Hammes, age 81, of Zumbrota, died on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Zumbrota Health Services. She was born on June 14, 1932, in Milton Township, Dodge County, to Leo and Bertha (nee Berg) Kundert. Pauline grew up in Pine Island and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1950. On June 28, 1952 she married Richard Hammes in Mazeppa, they made their home. Pauline was a homemaker until 1969, when they purchased the Hardware Store in Mazeppa. Richard and Pauline operated the Hammes O.K. Hardware Store together until they sold the store in 1986. She also worked part-time as a bartender at the Mazeppa Liquor Store until the late 1990's. Pauline was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren.
Pauline is survived by son, Michael (LaVon) Hammes of Mazeppa; daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Meyer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Meyer, Courtney (Michael O'Reilly) Hammes, Stephanie (Erik Cole) Hammes; great-grandson, Dalton O'Reilly; and sister, Bonnie Gamlin of Hermosa Beach, CA.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister, RoseAnn Hinrichs; and brother, Duane Kundert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Joseph Fogal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Mahn Family Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
