Paul W. Lawrence (P.W.), age 90, Welch, died peacefully on May 18th, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Paul was born March 19th, 1922 in Scobey, Montana to Albert and Myrtle Lawrence. He attended schools in Red Wing. He served in the United States Navy from 1940 to 1946 and is a member of "the greatest generation". On July 20th, 1945, Paul married the love of his life, Delores (Laurie) Von Bargen in Red Wing, Minnesota. He established Lawrence Construction and Realty in 1948 which is still in business today. Paul was also a partner in Hastings Construction, IBI and Sunstream.
Paul is survived by his wife, Laurie; his six sons, Mitch (Debbie) Lawrence, John (Terri) Lawrence, Tom (Debbie) Lawrence, David (Sharon) Lawrence, Gary (Dana) Lawrence and Don Lawrence; as well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Tony, Vincent and Howard; and sister Marguerite Godwin.
Paul's great joy in life was his family, horses and golfing. His love of life was infectious and he will be dearly missed.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Robert Iverson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to the Miesville Fire Department c/o Jay Bauer, 25737 Nicolai Avenue, Cannon Falls, MN 55009, Hastings Family Service c/o Amy Sutton, 301 2nd Street East, Hastings, MN 55033, or the Red Wing Area Food Shelf c/o Craig or Dee, 1755 Old West Main Street, Red Wing, MN 55066.
