Paul Thorvin Hokanson

Paul T. Hokanson, age 88 of Wanamingo passed away Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in the loving presence of family.  Memorial Service will be Friday November 5th at 11:00 at Minneola Lutheran Church with Pastor Hannah Bergstrom de Leon officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday November 4th, 2021 at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, MN from 4-7pm and for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Paul T. Hokanson was born January 7th, 1933 in the stone house in Belle Creek Township to Thore and Minnie (Karlstad) Hokanson.  He attended grade school in Cherry Grove Township and graduated from Kenyon H.S. in 1951.  He received his Electrical degree from Dunwoody in 1959, served in the U.S Air Force from 1953-1957.  He worked as an electrician in Hibbing, MN from April 1960-Oct 1961.  An Electrical Engineer at Honeywell from Nov 1961 – Nov 1971.  An Instrumentation Engineer at Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant Dec 1971-March 1973 and an Engineer Aide and Supervisor at Honeywell in Plymouth, MN from March 1973 until he retired in 1992.

Paul loved spending time with Family, Friends, fishing, hunting, and fixing anything put in front of him. No matter how big or small the project may have been.  He treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and caring for his 40 acre hobby farm.  Paul was a long time member of Minneola Lutheran Church and was an active member.  He was admired for his ability to handle anything with his kind and compassionate soul.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Thore, his mother Minnie, loving wife of 61 years Gloria, Brother Roger (Helen) Hokanson, daughter in-law Lhonda Hokanson and Boon Sorensen.  He is survived by his two sons Gregory and Darin (Megan) Hokanson, his brothers Melroy (Leah) Hokanson, Harlan (Bonnie) Hokanson, Gary (Marlene) Hokanson and sisters Marleen (Larry) Beckman and Kathryn (Jerry) Hauschildt and 4 grandchildren Travis, Micheal, Tyler, Skylar and 8 great grandchildren.
