Paul F. Bjorklund

Paul Frederick Bjorklund, 89, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 7, 1923 in Red Wing, to Carl and Cornelia (Noleen) Bjorklund. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1942. He farmed a number of years before entering the US Army during World War II serving from 1944 to 1946. Following his discharge he returned to Red Wing where he worked for Durkee-Atwood, the Minnesota State Highway Department, Edbloms Conoco Station and then for 31 years at Central Research, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church serving on the board for many years and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. He enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Marian Bjorklund of Red Wing; his nieces and nephews: Ken (Diane) Bjorklund of Hovland, Minn., Karen Secor of St. Louis Park, Steve Bjorklund of St. Louis Park, Becky (Bill) Buchanan of Augusta, GA, Sandy (Steve) Anderson of Golden Valley, Leanne (Reg) Sikkink of Lake City and Duke (Kathy) Bjorklund of Welch. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roland and Glen and one sister, Hazel Anderson.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church of Welch with Rev. Joy Bussert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, the Salvation Army or donor's choice.
