Patrick Leonard Young

A memorial service for Patrick Young will be held Wednesday, June 12th at 11:00 AM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. Mr. Tim Boyer will officiate. Mr. Young, 66, of Rochester, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at his home from complications of COPD and pulmonary fibrosis.
Patrick Leonard Young was born November 25, 1946 in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Leonard and Leona Young. Raised in Mitchell, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He met Kathy Langenfeld in Yankton, South Dakota, and the couple married on December 27, 1969 in Carroll, Iowa. The couple moved to Peoria, Illinois and then in 1975 to Rochester, Minnesota. In Rochester, Patrick worked for Crawford and Company, and eventually became the manager of the office there, as well as the offices in Mankato and Marshall. Patrick retired in 2002 due to health concerns.
Pat was happiest when spending time with his close-knit family. He also enjoyed playing pool, working in the yard, bird watching, animals, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Rochester; two sons, Matt (Rebecca) Young of College Station, Texas, and Josh (Suzie) Young of Rochester; a daughter, Rachel Young and her fiancé Bryan Schnell of Rochester; four grandchildren, Brayden and Kale Young, and Grace and Phin Young; four sisters, Mary Kay (Norm) McNary of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Elizabeth (Spence) Zielenski of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Susan (Tim Boyer) Young of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Laurie (George) Ellis Young of KAUST Saudi Arabia; and two brothers, Michael (Glenda) Young of Santa Maria, California, and Tom (Kim) Young of Mitchell, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
