Patrick Louis Huppert, 76, of Red Wing, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at his home. He was born November 22, 1929 in Ellsworth, to Louis and Neva (McDonald) Huppert. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War from 1950-1952. He married Myrna Allyn on September 22, 1951 in Red Wing. Upon returning from the war, he went to work for Johnson and Meyer Clothing Store in Red Wing for several years, and then Hughes Shoes for 12 years before opening Towne Squire with his brother-in-law, Dean Harris. He later bought out his brother-in-law and opened Pat?s Apparel. In 1983 he switched to his real passion-- woodworking. Under the name of Rose Creek Gifts, he made handmade collectibles in his designs. He sent Rose Creek frames and furniture throughout the United States and even as far as Japan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to bake and go on vacations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Being a very devoted family man and spending time with his family were most important to him. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54. He is survived by his wife, Myrna of Red Wing; 2 sons, Greg (Linda Holden) and Jeff (Lynn) both of Red Wing; 2 daughters, Gina (Mark) Rathbun of Big Lake and Calli (Grant) Ekblad of Red Wing; 7 grandchildren, Chad, Kyle, Kandi, Emily, Colt, Hallie and Maggie; 3 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emy and Travis; a brother, Dick (Mardell) Huppert of Lake City and a sister, Betty Juveli of Bloomington, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley and a baby brother, Mike. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad and Robert Huppert, Grant and Colt Ekblad, Mark Rathbun and David Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Huppert, Kandi Hammond, Emily Ekblad and Hallie and Maggie Rathbun. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
