Patricia “Pat” Ann Borgen 94, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 1, 2021, at her son’s home in Red Wing. She was recently diagnosed with cancer, and although her illness was quite brief, she knew that Jerry was waiting for her, with golf clubs in hand.
Pat was born on December 15, 1926, in Red Wing, to Almer and Edith (Haller) Kolberg and graduated from Red Wing Central High School, class of 1944. She began working at Jorgenson Chevrolet, at the age of 17, working for 50 years, until her retirement in 1994. She also worked part-time at Shear Perfection, the Uffda Shop and up until the Covid pandemic, she was still working at Discovery Financial.
She was married to David “Jerry” Borgen on June 27, 1953, and together they had four children. While Jerry was busy in the community, Pat kept busy at home with the children, keeping things neat and tidy and making some of her wonderful meals and baked goods—like her chocolate chip cookies, melting moments, Swedish meatballs or even homemade strawberry jam. Though she was an excellent cook, she and Jerry did enjoy their dinners out together. When Jerry passed away in 2018, they had celebrated 65 years together. If Pat wasn’t busy at work, she enjoyed doing word-finds and going shopping was always a highlight for Pat. More than anything though, she loved her family dearly and they meant the world to her.
She is survived by her children, David (Gina) Borgen of Red Wing, Debra (Mitch) Lawrence of Red Wing, Dawn (Todd) Quist of Hastings and Diane (Keith) Torbenson of Northfield; 6 grandchildren, D.J. (Amber) and Tanner (Allison) Borgen, Allison (Jeff) and Morgan (Kyle) Quist and Emily (Cody) Makitalo and Ryan Torbenson; 3 siblings, Dorothy Jagusch, Jim Kolberg and Sandy Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; granddaughters, Katie Sue and Briana Klindworth and siblings, Gwen and Norma Thomforde, Sue Hokenstrom and Tom and Byron Kolberg.
