Patricia Darlene Rions

Patricia D. Rions, age 87, of Rochester, died Sunday (Aug. 26, 2012) at the Stewartville Care Center.
Patricia D. Scott was born July 13, 1925 in Rochester to Carroll and Frances (Sumner) Scott. She attended Rochester Schools. Pat married Howard A. Rions on Oct. 15, 1942 and the family made their home in Rochester until 1951 when Sgt. Rions was recalled into the USAF, during the Korean Conflict, after having served in World War II in England. The family lived at many different Air Force Bases as well as overseas before returning to Rochester after Sgt. Rions retired in 1974. During their time in the service Pat became a Red Cross Chairman for all aspects and also taught all aspects of First Aid to civilians as well as Air Force and Army Personnel, Highway Patrolmen, and school children. Pat was also selected by the American Red Cross to be on the Rehabilitation Team for the returning POW's from Viet Nam. Both Pat and Howard have received numerous awards for their service to the Red Cross as well as Letters of Commendation. Pat was a member of the Rochester Chapter #193 Order of the Eastern Star and served as Treasurer for many years. She was a past Jobs Daughter of Bethel #13 and also served on the Board for Jobs. She was a past Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbow for Girl's Assembly #83 in California. She was the Assistant Mother Advisor for the Howard A. Rions Assembly #1 Oder of the Oder of Rainbow for Girl's, named in memory of her late husband. She was a member of the Marion Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Mills of Deleon Springs, FL; and Merry Ward of Jacksonville, TX; eight grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband who died Mar. 12, 1995, her son David, and an infant sister.
Private burial will be next to her husband in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Memorials are suggested to the Shiners' Hospitals for Children.
