Parker Jason Pierce

July 13, 2014 — August 24, 2014

"Each new life... No matter how fragile or brief... Forever changes the world." Our beloved son, Parker Jason Pierce, was born July 13, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester and died August 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Parker was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, and though dedicated love and devotion was given by his parents, big brothers, and family, united with skilled efforts and care by Mayo Clinic medical staff, he was unable to overcome his pulmonary hypertension. Parker was born 3 lb. 14 oz. and 16-¾ inches long. He was baptized into God's family within hours after he was born. In his short life, Parker touched many souls, and teaches us of the tenuous nature of life and the reminder to be thankful for the treasures we are given. His strong, fighting spirit left an impact that will always be cherished by many.
Parker is survived by his parents, Jason and Katie (Stensvold) Pierce of Kasson; big brothers Peyton and Andrew; maternal grandparents, Ken and Beverly Stensvold of Byron; paternal grandparents, Jon and Linda Pierce of Onalaska, Wis.; his aunts and uncles Anne and Devin Curley of Trempeleau, WI, Emily Stensvold of Byron, and Josh Pierce; his cousins Keaton and Makenah Marie Curley; great grandparents, Peggy Stensvold of Owatonna, and Marv and Terry Cravens of Onalaska; and other caring family and friends.
Parker will be welcomed to heaven by his Big Brother Alexander Jason Pierce, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him are his great grandparents, Yvonne Ahrens-Wencl, Ralph Ahrens, Donald Wencl; Kenneth O. Stensvold; Edward and Dorothy Pierce.
Visitation will be held at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, 1624 37th Street NW in Rochester, on Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:45 PM. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. The Reverend Nancy Toensing will officiate.
Parker's family would like to thank all of the St. Mary's NICU staff for their tender care and guidance. We were gently touched by so many of the medical staff that provided empathy and thoughtfulness. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Ronald McDonald House and many family and friends that provided support before Parker's birth and during his short life. The death of Parker is like a stone cast into the stillness of a quiet pool; the concentric ripples of sadness sweep out in all directions, affecting many, many others.
Online tributes are being welcomed and may be created at this website.
