Otto Friese

Otto E. Friese, 80, of Belle Creek Township, Goodhue County, died Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Wayne D. Schoch officiating. Burial will follow in Zumbrota Cemetery. Honorary Bearers will be Doug Sommer, Troy Kennedy, Todd Kennedy, Bari Herman, Mike Jonas, Percy Thompson, Tony Friese, Kirk Friese and Scott Herman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Otto Ernest Friese was born on January 11, 1926 in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County to Edwin and Gladys (Olson) Friese. He grew up in the rural Zumbrota area and attended country schools. Otto began farming at an early age, taking over the family farm after the death of his father. On October 7, 1946 Otto married Jerene Sommer in Zumbrota. Following their marriage the couple farmed north of Zumbrota in Belle Creek Township. Otto also worked for eight years at Libby's in Rochester. Jerene died on October 20, 2006. Otto was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards and reading. Otto is survived by his daughter, Tana Faye Sviggum of Goodhue; son, Tyron (Jane) Friese of Zumbrota; two brothers, Donald (Beverly) Friese of Wilmington, NC and Duane Friese of Zumbrota; two sisters, Shirley Kennedy of Pine Island and Dorothy Herman of Maple Plain, MN and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are with Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel, Zumbrota.
