Otto Flemke, age 84, of Red Wing, MN died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Red Wing Health Center.

Otto was born in Vergas, MN on February 6, 1927 to Gustav and Martha (Harke) Flemke. He was raised on a farm in Vergas, MN and attended a one room schoolhouse in Vergas. At the age of 14 the family moved to the Esdaile, WI area. Otto worked at the Esdaile box factory, operated his own service station in Goodhue, MN, and worked for the S.B. Foot Tanning Company for 36 years, retiring in 1989. Otto also worked part time selling monuments for Owatonna Granite Works and drove school bus for Lee Lines. Otto married Donna Mae Diercks on August 25, 1950 in Goodhue, MN. After serving with the Minnesota National Guard, in the Korean War, Otto and Donna Mae raised their family in Red Wing, MN. Donna Mae died on December 8, 1990. On May 2, 1992 Otto married Irene Carlson. Irene died on December 6, 2006. Otto was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. He also served as a Scout Master. Otto loved hunting and fishing, gardening, traveling, and woodworking. Otto often was asked to help his friends fix things and they knew that if there was a way to fix it he would.

He is survived by four children; Steven (LaVae) Flemke of Evansville, WI, Carol Mickelson of Red Wing, Thomas (Faye) Flemke of Owatonna, MN, and Daniel (Cindy) Flemke of Red Wing, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Edmund Flemke of Zumbrota, MN and Leslie (Della Mae) Flemke of Pine Island, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Donna Mae Flemke of 40 years and wife Irene Carlson Flemke of 14 years; grandson David Fischer, and Eugene Mickelson.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9th, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8th from 5-7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the church.
