Oscar I. Pearson

Oscar Iver Pearson, 93, of Red Wing, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He is now with his Lord and Savior and will be missed by all. He was born September 16, 1922, in Hallock Minnesota to Otto and Inga (Nordness) Pearson. He attended rural school near Hallock and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston in 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He worked in a CCC Camp at Bemidji for 13 months in 1940 and then he worked for Land O'Lakes Feed and Seed Division in Thief River Falls in the late 1940s. He married Elnora Bryan on October 26, 1957. He farmed in Ellsworth, Wis. from 1952 until 1978 and worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Red Wing until retiring in 1987. After retiring, he worked for Vasa Children's Home as a groundskeeper. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Elnora; one son, Mark (Bonnie) of Eagan; three daughters, Marsha (Ted) Sykes of Scottsdale, Ariz., Becky (Tim) Brunner of Ellsworth, and Rhonda (Steve) Flack of Red Wing; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Edith Uppman of Virginia, Minn. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ann, Pearl, and Irene and four brothers, Orville, Mel, Harold, and Arnold.
A Celebration of Life for Oscar will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Heart Fund, United Lutheran Church, or Minneapolis VA Hospital.
