Orville Clifford Lexvold, age 98, a longtime resident of Wanamingo, MN, died Friday afternoon, May 8, 2020 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island, MN.
Orville was born on April 29, 1922, in Minneola Township, MN. He was the first child of Arthur and Gita "Elizabeth" (Davidson) Lexvold.
He lived most of his life in Wanamingo but also in the surrounding area of Belle Creek, Goodhue, Zumbrota, and Pine Island. He attended a Norwegian school for the first 2 years in Hader, MN and then Wanamingo public school. He served in the US Naval Reserve from Oct. 1942 until honorably discharged in Oct. 1945. He first served on the USS Thuban in the Mediterranean Sea and then on the USS Swanson in the South Pacific.
He married Nora Mae Johnson and raised 7 children and married Lindyann "Sue" Gustafson Raihala Wobig raising 1 child.
He was self-employed doing roofing, painting and construction of farms around the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, sitting outside people watching, playing cards and going to Treasure Island.
He is survived by 1 sister-in-law, Anna Lexvold of Minneapolis, MN, 7 children, Darryl Lexvold of Deer River, MN, Mary (Larry) Wolkenhauer of Cottage Grove, MN, Jeanne Lexchel of Prescott, WI, Dion Lexvold of Deer River, MN, Connie (Clarence) Wolkenhauer of Cannon Falls, MN, David (Nancy) Lexvold of Pine Island, MN and Justine Lexvold of Fairview, NC. 17 Grandchildren, Todd, Lorrie, Rachel, Wade, Holly, Daniel, Rena, Toni, Tanya, Terri, Jamie, Aaron, Elizabeth, Gregory, Angela, Andrew, Riley and Anna. 31 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and many other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gita Lexvold, Siblings: Ernest, Luverne, Conrad, Joyce, Eileen, Marlowe and Delores, One daughter, Suzann Wolkenhauer and one grandchild, Bradley Lexvold.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
