Orville Virgil Hattemer, 81, of Goodhue, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Fairview Seminary Home. He was born January 22, 1931 in Red Wing, to Virgil and Evelyn (Nelson) Hattemer. He grew up in the Red Wing area and graduated from Red Wing Central High School. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 24, 1967, he married Hildegard Kirchner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Orville retired as a foreman at the Red Wing Shoe Company so that he could farm full-time. He loved hunting and trapping and was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54 and the Red Wing Elk's BPOE #845.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Hildegard of Goodhue; sons, Troy and Tim (Vicki) Hattemer both of Red Wing; grandchildren, Josh, Erika, Emme and Owen; a sister, Audrey (Bruce) Bodin of Red Wing and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny Hattemer.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Tyge Zucker officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
