Orville E. Bjorngaard

Orville Earl Bjorngaard, 84, of Red Wing, died Thursday, February 26, at his home. He was born on November 23, 1924, in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota to Olaf and Elsie (Peterson) Bjorngaard. He graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1943. He farmed for many years and also did carpentry work. On August 25, 1962 he was married to Diane Mann at Land's Lutheran Church near Zumbrota. He continued to farm in Minneola Township until 1968 when they moved to Red Wing. For a few years he worked with Lux Nelson Construction and then for NSP helping construct the Prairie Island Nuclear Plant, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Land's Lutheran Church and the Carpenters Union. He enjoyed traveling over the years, visiting almost all 50 states.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; one brother, Merrill (Katy) Bjorngaard of Red Wing; one sister, Lillian (Cal) Nibbe of Red Wing and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Archie.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Lands Lutheran Church rural Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Loken, Steve Kohn, Jason and Norman Bjorngaard, Donald Peterson and Darrel Thomford. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
