Olga Christine Odahlen

October 26, 1919 — December 30, 2015

Olga Christine Odahlen, 96, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at her home at Loving Residence. She was born on October 26, 1919 in Hay Creek Township to John and Anna (Quast) Wettern. She graduated from District #31 schools in Goodhue County in 1935. For several years she worked at Vasa Children's Home and the Red Wing Shoe Company. On March 18, 1943 she married Oswald Odahlen in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Throughout her married life she was a homemaker. Oswald died on December 2, 1984. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed crocheting, baking bread and pastries and her family recalls the frosted angel food cake that she would make each of them on their birthdays.

Survivors include two daughters, Maureen (Doug) Kees of Stockholm and Marlene (Jerry) Odahlen-Hinz of Oakdale; one son, Dennis (Christie) Odahlen of Waco, Texas; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and Eric Kees, Eden, Lucas, Micah, Isaac, Dinah, Jordon and Reuben Odahlen; several precious great grandchildren and one sister, Florence Wettern of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Willard Wettern and three sisters, Mildred Kuhl, Irene Seufert and one in infancy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Arte Sharot officiating. Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 3 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
